Gastric Antral Vascular Ectasia (GAVE), or "watermelon stomach," is a condition where the blood vessels in the stomach's antrum become dilated and prone to bleeding, causing chronic blood loss and iron deficiency anemia
Endoscopy reveals a pattern of red, striped vessels resembling a watermelon. While the exact cause is unknown, it is often associated with systemic diseases like cirrhosis and autoimmune disorders.
Treatment focuses on endoscopic interventions like Argon Plasma Coagulation (APC), but more severe cases may require surgery.
