A 61-year-old woman underwent abdominal ultrasound for chronic anemia, which revealed a hypoechoic lesion with peripheral vascularization at the level of the duodenal bulb. This lesion was confirmed by CT and endoscopy, and subsequently surgically removed (wedge resection; courtesy Prof Massimo CARLINI). Histopathological examination confirmed the clinical and instrumental findings: it was a high-risk pT2 GIST (Ki 67 >30-40%).
After 5 years of follow-up, there were no recurrences.
