Hemostatic clips are one of the core mechanical tools in modern gastrointestinal endoscopy, essential (by mechanical hemostasis) for controlling bleeding, closing defects, and avoiding surgery.
First introduced in 1975 by Japanese innovators, early clips were difficult to use, but modern designs have dramatically improved in precision, rotation, and opening width.
