An 84-year-old patient hospitalized for multiple comorbidities and progressive dysphagia underwent gastroscopy. Endoscopic examination revealed a severe stricture of the distal third of the esophagus with retrodilation and impaction, which could not be overcome despite the use of a pediatric gastroscope. Subsequent CT scan confirmed the stricture, while histological examination revealed amyloid deposits. (Courtesy of Dr. Stefano FRATONI)
