A 50-year-old woman was admitted to the emergency room with epigastric pain, vomiting, and severe anemia. After a blood transfusion, she underwent a CT scan, which revealed severe gastrectasia, with stenosis of the third duodenum (Treitz) and multiple lymphadenopathy. Subsequent Gastroscopy revealed diffuse atrophy of the duodenal mucosa and confirmed the presence of a vegetating, ulcerated, and spontaneously bleeding lesion, which histological examination revealed to be a small intestinal adenocarcinoma resulting from undiagnosed celiac disease (courtesy of Dr. Stefano FRATONI).
